Audiences can follow the yellow brick road all the way to Workington’s Theatre Royal next week to see a new production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Second Star Youth Theatre’s production is written and directed by Millie Hardy-Sims, of Cockermouth. The much-loved adventures of Dorothy and her dog Toto, swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone, are well known so a number of twists have been added to keep the audience on their toes.

The young cast of 19 actors includes 11-year-old Emily-Rose Lane, as Dorothy, in her first lead role with the company, and one which she has cherished since she was little.

Second Star Youth Theatre will perform the show from April 28 to 30.

Tickets cost £7 for adults, or £5 for under-16s and concessions.
