ROAD TRIP: Flimby couple Sue and Peter Donachy with their campervan and four lurchers

Sue Donachy, 45, who owns Sugar ‘n’ Sue in Maryport, and her plumber husband Peter, 52, are selling their Flimby Brow home and their businesses.

They will take off this autumn in their motorhome with their four lurcher dogs for company.

Sue said: “We will start in France, Spain and Portugal, but we also want to go to Austria, and perhaps see the Northern Lights.

“I have a friend in Bulgaria, so we will go there. We don’t really have set plans. We will just go where we want and stay for as long as we want.”

Sue said she had no fear about selling off their permanent home.

Trained in beauty and health care, she has been in the business for 20 years including 16 years in her Crosby Street salon. Peter has run his own plumbing and heating business for about 13 years.

She added: “It really is an adventure. The tools of my trade are my hands and Pete can put his toolbox in the motorhome, so when we need to work we will.”

She said they will return to Britain for family events but otherwise they have no idea how long they will travel.

Way to go Sue and Peter. My husband and I did the same thing in the United States. Hope you have a wonderful time and make lots of great memories.
