Youngsters from the Maryport area sang their hearts out for the Queen this week.

Songs from the different decades of the Queen’s 60-year reign were showcased in two entertaining and polished concerts at Netherhall School.

Taking part were children from Dearham, Broughton Moor, Maryport Infant and Junior schools, Netherton Infant School, Netherhall School, Our Lady and St Patrick’s, Grasslot, Ellenborough and Ewanrigg.

The concert was organised by Nicola Woolley, Maryport Extended Schools Partnership co-ordinator, with the help of staff at the participating schools and from Krista Davies and her team at Netherhall School’s drama department.

The evening ended with a rousing performance by all the children and the audience of Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and God Save The Queen.

More than 500 people watched the concerts over the two nights, with around 260 children taking part.
