Council staff pay review

ALLERDALE council will carry out a pay and grading review for all its staff.
It is part of a national programme which requires councils to review their local pay arrangements.
Council leader Joe Milburn said the review meant the authority was driving out inequalities and awarding equal pay for work of equal value.
The project has the support of trade unions.
The new pay structure will cost an extra £631,000 to fund one-off costs such as pay protection, settlements for back pay arrears and the increase in costs of the new scheme. The costs of implementing the scheme will be found from existing resources.
More than 400 council staff will be affected.
