14 low cost homes for Maryport

PERMISSION has been granted for 14 low cost houses to be built in Maryport.

Councillors on Allerdale’s development panel followed the recommendation of officers and gave approval to the scheme to build the homes at Faulders Field, Grasslot, at a meeting held today.

The development, proposed by SJR Building Contractors, features ten terraced two-bedroom houses with two pairs of semi-detached homes.

There will be one car parking space per property with a further 10 communal spaces for visitors.

The site, close to the Solway Industrial Estate, has been the subject of a series of recent residential planning applications with the latest seeing approval for nine homes being granted.

However officers considered the latest design is acceptable despite an increase in the development’s density and said it would have no adverse impact on the amenity of its surroundings.
