Isabel takes office again in Cockermouth

Isabel Burns has been elected mayor of Cockermouth for the third time.
Mrs Burns, 53, of Kirkgate, who has been on the town council for 18 years, took over from Christine Smith at a meeting of Cockermouth Town Council last night after previously serving as mayor between 2000-2001 and 2008-2009.
She is best known for her work with the town’s carnival committee.
Her mayoress will be her daughter Rachel Irving.
Isabel, originally of Keswick, said: “It is an honour to be elected mayor again.
“I just want to do my best for the town”
The new deputy mayor will be Phillip Graham.
