The Mary Portas scheme was just a(nother) Maryport Pipe Dream by Ms Driver and Co, it was never ever going to happen, call Me Mr cynical, and i know the U.K is still a Free Country, but is Ms Driver pictured posing in Workington, Murray Road ( i think ?? ) so much for promoting Maryport Town Centre!!

Maryport has missed out on the Mary Portas scheme.
Starting to see a pattern with these types.
Get their face in the paper when they first come, achieve hardly anything and then get their face in the paper when they move on.

@kevin - someone from the town who knows what it needs? Don't be silly, they'd demolish the whole place and start again.

Year in year out the Traders and Townsfolk of Maryport hear the same stories about what may, what can, but invariably what doesnt happen to Maryport, potentilally the Town has been left behind however so has West Cumbria as a whole. Times change and you have to change with them but Maryport, with the exception of the Docks, ( which have also become forgotten methinks )has never really changed, even though i work in Doha i do return back home to Maryport twice a year and i personally know there are a good half dozen Publicans - Traders who are trying to make things work, as well as ends meet, why not give the Job of the "Maryport Town Centre Manager" to some- one from the actual Town who understands, and knows what local People want, at least they will have the knowledge, and respect, of the local community.
