Colin Hughes left Maryport a long time ago but his heart remains here.
Born in Flimby, Colin, 78, was actively involved in the community.
He worked at the Bata shoe company and moved from the area in 1976, after the factory closed and moved to the Bristol area to join the prison service.
He is married to Immaculata, who is from Spain. The couple married in Madrid in 1964, despite the fact neither could understand the other's language.
Colin was a Maryport town councillor for 11 years and an Allerdale district councillor for four.
He also served as mayor for six months before having to leave town after Bata's closure.
"These are family photos but they may bring back memories for Maryport people," he said.
