A TRAINING company has been launched to support West Cumbria’s apprenticeship capabilities. Nucleus Training Ltd, a joint venture between Lillyhall’s Energus facility and training provider Gen II, will provide world-class facilities and skills.
Mike Smith, the new chief executive of Nucleus, said: “This is a highly exciting and strategically very important next step for Gen II and Energus, which will cement the two organisations together.
“Nucleus will provide the impetus for new business growth and development especially in the nuclear new-build, advanced renewable energy and advanced manufacturing markets.
“Whilst we have a new company to consider, our existing clients and customers will still retain their strong links with Gen II and Energus, which will continue as companies in their own right.”
The announcement of the joint venture coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Gen II by partner companies Sellafield Ltd, AMEC, Corus, Iggesund Paperboard, Innovia Films and the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
The new company hopes to grow regionally, nationally and internationally, playing a key role in the Energy Coast Campus and Britain’s Energy Coast Masterplan.
