Olympic Torch Relay in west Cumbria

The torch is expected to pass through ASPATRIA from about 11.40am before arriving in MARYPORT at about 12.10pm, where it will travel past Netherhall Corner and continue along Curzon Street and Main Road to FLIMBY.
The WORKINGTON leg of the nationwide relay will start at the roundabout on New Bridge Road at 1pm.
Torch bearers will head through the town centre via Church Street, Falcon Street, Station Road, Oxford Street, Jane Street, Washington Street and Ramsay Brow to Stainburn School.
The torch will then head back to Harrington Road and along Moss Bay Road, finishing at the junction with Poole Road.
WHITEHAVEN is the only place in Copeland to host the procession. It will arrive at the Pelican Garage just after 3pm.
Its route is, New Road, Bransty Row, George Street, Church Street, left onto Duke Street, right turn into Scotch Street, onto Lowther Street, East Strand, North Shore Road, and back onto New Road before the torch leaves Whitehaven, for Cockermouth at about 3.50pm.
Suggested places to view the torch are along New Road on the pavement side, along Lowther Street, and the harbourside.
Ahead of the Olympic convoy’s arrival there will be children’s sports and demonstrations at Castle Park and the Sports Centre.
Starting at Low Road in COCKERMOUTH, the torch will travel along Crown Street and Main Street, continue up Castlegate on to Castlegate Drive and finish at Cockermouth School.
A huge street party, organised by the town council, is planned on Main Street from 2pm to celebrate the relay. The event will be followed by a Solstice picnic in the Memorial Gardens.
The torch will then move on to KESWICK, where a relay through the town will start on High Hill at 4.30pm.
The torch will continue on to Main Street and turn left up Bank Street. It will then travel along the A5271 Penrith Road and on to the A591 Chestnut Hill, finishing at Castlerigg Brow.
