Challenging for the Premier League title has just become a little bit harder for Chelsea's rivals.

Jose Mourinho has won the race to sign Barcelona's out-of-favour forward Pedro and it's a massive coup for the Londoners.

Twenty-eight-year-old Pedro will bring pace, a goalscoring threat and a vast amount of experience to Chelsea's already strong line-up.

Mourinho has won a mini victory over Manchester United who looked like they were in the driving seat to sign Pedro.

Man Utd need more forward options and Pedro would have been ideal.

You can always make room in your squad for a player like Pedro but Chelsea seem to be stockpiling players.

Eden Hazard, Loic Remy, Diego Costa, Oscar, Willian, Juan Cuadrado, Victor Moses and Radamel Falcao are all vying for positions in Chelsea's attack.

They also have a ridiculous amount of players out on loan. Mohamed Salah, Patrick Bamford and Christian Atsu are just three talented attackers who can't force their way into Mourinho's plans.

Chelsea buy, buy and buy players and then hardly give them anytime to settle in. Kevin De Bruyne and Andre Schürrle are two players who would improve any top-class team in the world.

De Bruyne should have been given more time. He is now being linked with a £50m to Manchester City and he could come back to haunt his old side in the Premier League.

But Chelsea have become a ruthless, business-like machine, which is sadly a growing trend in top-flight football.

They want ready-made superstars and not players who will need time to settle and find their feet.

It is hard to argue with the results - a string of top-four finishes and plenty of silverware.

This is why Pedro has chosen Chelsea over Manchester United.

And despite their indifferent start to the season, Chelsea will be close to the title again because of their policy of spending big money on ready-made superstars.
