Blame the coach for Town's woes

I HAVE been a Workington Town supporter for most of my life, although over the last few years, due to work commitment, I was unable to attend matches, but last season I went to watch a game and really enjoyed it.

I felt the players played really lively and good rugby; in fact I was so impressed I went on to sponsor a match and my family and friends had a lovely afternoon with the club.

But what can be said about this season? The scores say enough. The players don’t seem to have the same motivation!

This, in my opinion, falls to one man, the coach, Dave Rotherham.

The statement he made prior to the Barrow match makes me wonder if he knows this team at all?

To make a statement that all the players were fit and he had a good strong squad to pick from must have been the funniest statement ever, when the teams go out and get beaten 66 to 6.

The team gave 100 per cent for Les Ash and Craig Barker last season.

Would the coach himself come down to the town ground week in week out if he had to pay to watch what we have had to watch, or even travel away as some supporters do? I think not.

Why should we bother about the state of the club if those at the top don’t seem to be doing anything to rectify the situation.

After all, if you are building a house you need foundation; it’s no good trying to put the roof on first.

Let’s get back to where we were and have something to be proud about with a new leader of the pack.
