Well done for saying no to dog track

AS AN international greyhound protection organisation, we would like to congratulate Cockermouth councillors on their decision not to allow a greyhound track to be built in the town ( Times & Star, March 21).

Figures just issued by the greyhound racing industry indicate that at least 15,000 greyhounds are put to death each year because of dog racing in Britain, either because they fail to make the grade as racers or when their careers on the tracks come to an end, through age or injury.

One of the last things this country needs is another greyhound track and also why we are appealing to the public not to attend or bet on greyhound racing, so this death-industry fades away through lack of financial support.
