What compensation will Market Place traders get?

MUCH has been written and many battles have been  fought over the Cockermouth Market Place development, even before it started.

However, now that we've lived through many weeks of disruption, with six more weeks to go, we, the public, have a clearer picture of the drastic effects of these roadworks on the businesses - shops, hairdressers and hotel in the Market  Place and in particular the small greengrocer's shop which has often been partly blocked-off and difficult to get to.

The consequences for these traders have been extremely serious. They must be suffering great financial losses and the key question is: what compensation will they get?

Perhaps now is the time for the appropriate local authority to spell out in the press what they plan to do to make good the losses  suffered over many weeks by the businesses in Cockermouth Market Place.

Does the credit crunch worry you?

Yes. I'm cutting back to save money

No. What credit crunch? Spend, spend, spend

It's life as normal for me. I haven't decided if it's going to affect me
