Police are hunting a man who threatened a taxi driver with a knife and hammer.
The violent incident was reported in west Cumbria late last night.
During it, the victim managed to take one of the weapons from the aggressor.
Officers today issued a description of the man allegedly involved in the hope that someone may be able to help identify him.
Police were alerted to the incident, in Cleator Moor, just after 11pm.
A spokeswoman said: “Cumbria Constabulary is investigating a report of a man threatening a taxi driver with a knife and hammer in the Ehen Road area.
“The victim managed to remove the knife from him.”
The man sought by police is described as being white, aged in his 40s and of medium to average build. He was wearing a green Barbour-style jacket and green hat. He had stubble on his face and spoke with a local accent.
Anyone with information should call Whitehaven police on 101.
