This lovely family home was built to high standards by renowned local builder Story Homes and has been beautifully cared for by the owners David and Lynsey Little.

They live there with their children Elle Farquhar, Remi Little and Joey Little and have been there for five years.

"We knew and liked the area and were attracted to this house because it was a new-build with all the modern features we like, plus an expansive garden and a garage, " David, an IT project manager, said.

"The main bedroom had a lovely en-suite with the other rooms being quite large. It was also a detached house which was better than the terraced house we were currently in at that time."

The house, which has double glazing and central heating, is in a quiet cul-de-sac which provides a safe and peaceful location for children.

The property has a traditional front door with a convenient canopy over for protection from the elements.

It opens into an entrance area from where a door leads into the good-sized lounge which has a feature gas fire, laminate floor and double doors into the 21ft dining kitchen.

This family room is fitted with matching wall and floor units with contrasting work surfaces and an excellent range of integrated appliances comprising gas hob, grill and oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.

Double doors lead from the dining area to the back garden and another door gives access to the utility room which is plumbed for a washing machine. A cloakroom is off this utility area.

David and Lynsey, who works as a system and infrastructure adviser, have carried out many improvements to their home.

"We have decorated throughout, put new flooring in the sitting and dining room, new carpet on the stairs and landing and new flooring in the bedrooms and bathroom," he said.

"We also put decking in the back garden which is large and could be converted to a range of uses. The front garden is grassed and is small but easily maintainable."

He says one of his favourite spots in the house is the master bedroom which is lovely and has an en-suite shower room. It also has built-in wardrobes and a TV point.

One of the other three double bedrooms also has a TV point and storage and the landing has additional storage.

The family bathroom has a three-piece suite in white with spotlights, an extractor and wall tiling.

The house has an integral garage which is also great for storage, David said, and could be adapted into another room if required.

"We're in a quiet area of Whitehaven which is great for kids and the amenities are good too," he said. "There is a local Nisa shop 100 yards down the road, bus routes nearby and you can walk into Whitehaven in about 10 minutes walk.

"That's great for when there are events on in town and there are views of the Irish sea and Isle of Man and Scotland on a nice day.

"We are looking to move closer to Egremont as we want our little boy to go to Bookwell School next year but we'll miss this house.

"Without a doubt it offers a great deal for a family or couple. All of the neighbours are friendly and there is plenty of potential to put a stamp on the vast garden at the back."

The house in Leander Close, Whitehaven, is for sale at £204,000 from Cumberland Estate Agents. For more details see here .
