Serial flasher sent out of Cumbria to live

A serial flasher who took to wearing two pairs of trousers to make it harder for him to expose himself has been sent to live out of the county.

Michael McShane, 55, was hoping to be able to go on living at the Bowling Green hostel in Carlisle, which was his home until he was arrested for his latest offence of dropping his trousers in public in April.

But because of a “breakdown in communication” no place has been made available for him there for when he is released from prison later today.

And yesterday a judge at Carlisle Crown Court – who had said McShane would not be sent to prison – accepted there was no alternative but to send him, at least temporarily, to live at a hostel in Northumberland.

McShane, who pleaded guilty, was living at the Bowling Green when on April 17 he was found by a police officer, lying unconscious in Vulcans Lane in Workington.

He was wearing two pairs of trousers in a bizarre attempt to stop himself flashing in public but they were party down.

McShane will be sentenced on September 12.
