Silloth take centre stage in Cumbria this weekend with a home tie in the Senior Vase national competition.
At the Jim Brough Rugby Park, the Tigers host Trafford MV and will play their second pool game on February 2 at Dukinfield, leaving Trafford to host Dukinfield on February 23.
Teams in the other northern pool involved in the Senior Vase are Winlaton Vulcans, Blyth and Selby. The two group winners will then meet in the quarter final.
Silloth were denied a warm-up game on Saturday when Kirkby Lonsdale A declined to travel but at the players’ request they held an extra training session to prepare for the visit of Trafford.
Coach Mark Orchard said: “That was great, what I was pleased to hear as coach and there’s no doubt that we are taking this competition very seriously.
Tomorrow’s opponents Trafford MV currently lie fifth in North Lancs Division One with five wins and four defeats so far. They won 21-7 at bottom club Bury last week-end.
Dukinfield, the third team in the pool, are lying third in South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two.
The disappointment for Silloth when Kirkby Lonsdale declined to travel are compounded by the news that they are unlikely to fulfil the fixture.
Teams above the Cumbria League and Cumbria League 2 are not involved in League action this week-end, although the North Lancs Cumbria pair of Upper Eden and Eccles meet in the Intermediate Cup at Kirkby Stephen.
In the Cumbria League, Netherhall travel to Millom.
