Three young Cumbrians will find out on Friday if they have won an England call-up in the Under-18’s age group.
Scrum-half Paul Harrison, prop Nat Mossop and back-row forward Grant Seward spent the weekend playing in two games for the North of England.
Harrison (Austin Friars), Mossop (Carlisle) and Seward (Cockermouth) all started in the North side which lost 26-19 to London and the South.
Training on Saturday, with members of the England coaching staff, was followed by a Sunday game when the North side lost 26-14 against a South West team.
Carlisle head coach Matt Shields was also involved in helping prepare the North forwards for the matches.
Nigel Beaty, Cumbria Under-18’s lead coach, said: “Reports received have been very positive on the boys’ performances so fingers crossed for selection for England Counties.
“The England Counties squad to tour Ireland will be announced on Friday.”
