Kurt Maudling has re-signed for Whitehaven after being released by neighbours Workington Town.
Maudling first joined Haven in October 2016 but was never able to nail down a regular place in the following year’s squad. He moved to Workington a year later and last season again missed out on regular League One rugby.
But Haven coach Gary Charlton has plenty of faith in the former St. Benedict’s rugby union player and believes he can compete successfully for a place in the current squad.
“I’ve known Kurt for a long time and he can definitely play rugby. I’ve seen him play league for Hensingham and union for Benny’s, where he also represented Cumbria.
“He is a versatile player who can operate in a number of positions and it will be up to him to make a shirt his own. It’s more competition for places and adds to what we are trying to do at the club, build-up a good local squad,” said Charlton.
