South Shields will be the new visitors to Strawberry How at the weekend when they take on Cockermouth RUFC in a pre-season friendly.
The game has been arranged by former Cockermouth youth player Luke Broster who moved over to the North East with Newcastle Thunder academy and plays for South Shields in the winter season.
The game kicks off at 3pm tomorrow and the club is appealing for fans to go along and watch, with a social fancy dress event after the game on the theme of pub golf.
The following Sunday Cockermouth host Broughton Red Rose Legends in a cross-code memorial clash.
The Ian “Jinky” Jackson memorial game brings back the Broughton Red Rose Cumbria Cup winning team of 2006 to play against the current Wasps side.
The day starts with a family fun day from 1.30pm, and also features alternative horse racing ahead of the game, which will also see junior tag rugby at half time.
Finally, Cockermouth RU Club will host a sportsman’s dinner on Friday, September 13.
Former England rugby league star Adrian Morley will headline the event as a guest speaker with compere Howard Nicholson.
