HONISTER ‘92 staged a time trial for the Thursday night series around the circuit of Bassenthwaite lake. This is a series of events organised by Solway CC, Derwent Valley CC and Honister.

The conditions were very windy but dry with the only tailwind felt on bits of road along the back of the lake.

Rob Hargreaves, Velo Club Cumbria, won the event after stopping on the climb of Ravenstone after Dodd Wood with a unshipped chain but finished in a time of 37 minutes 26 seconds for the 15.8 mile circuit.

Teammate Keith Ashbridge, VCC, took second in 38.53. In third position was veteran Ken Hargreaves, Team Swift/Allsports with 40.38.

Border City Wheelers rider R Barton was 10 seconds down for fourth, 40.48 and youngster Andy Robinson, BCW, was fifth in 41.11.

Another evergreen veteran Ged Brear, VCC, finished with a time of 42.31 for sixth place with junior rider David Harwood, VCC seventh in 43.36.

Velo Cumbria’s D Shipp was eighth, 43.38 and Border City rider F Robinson ninth 45.14.

Brian Moore, Solway CC came in with 46.15 and Reg Irving, VCC, managed to finish with a flat tyre in 47.40 11th, Solway CC’s juvenile rider Simon Symonds was 12th in 48.14.
