ELLENBOROUGH take on Kells this evening to decide who will be this season’s top dogs in the Cumberland Amateur Rugby League.
Ellenborough ensured that the title race goes down to the very last match with a thumping defeat of third-placed Hensingham on Tuesday.
Ellenborough led 20-0 at the break through tries from Paul McGee, Paul Southward and two from Barrie Murdock. Stephen Stoddart landed two conversions.
They added second-half tries courtesy of McGee, Jamie Watson (2), Southward, Dean Scholey and Andrew Lightfoot. Stoddart added another four conversions.
Gavin Maudling scored a consolation try for Hensingham, in the 52-6 reverse, Jamie Sharp converting.
This evening’s decider against Kells kicks off at Ellenborough’s Solway Park at 6.30pm.
Also on Tuesday Seaton, in fourth, enjoyed a 34-14 success at Wath Brow.
Duncan Moyle, Richard George, Jon Roper, Brett Phillips, Nicky Williamson and James McKay crossed for the visitors. Moyle added five goals.
Karl Olstrom, Martin Barwise and Jason Connery replied for the Hornets, Connery adding a conversion.
