TOURIST: Cockermouth Titan Jonny Goulding

They are part of a historic British Amateur Rugby League Association U23 tour to the West Indian isle.

The other West Cumbrians are Egremont’s John Paul Brocklebank – who is the captain – Paul Corkhill and Clayton Edward Sutton plus Kells’ Ross Gainsford.

The tour continues the ethos of “play for Barla and see the world” as the pioneers of the amateur game make their first visit to West Indies.

During the 14-day tour the squad will be based at the Four Seasons Hotel, Kingston, and will play three games and hold coaching clinics.

Their opening game is tomorrow, the first Test Match against Jamaica at the National Stadium East.

That is followed on Wednesday with a game against Jamaica Intercollegiate All Stars at the UWI Stadium.

And the final game is on June 16 when they play the second Test Match against Jamaica at the GC Foster College Stadium.

Barla international manager Mick Turner said: “This is the first time that a Barla side has been involved in a tour of Jamaica and we are going there to help in their continued development in rugby league.

“This will involve playing three games including two tests against the Jamaica national side and the coaches and players visiting local schools giving coaching clinics to improve their skills in the game.

“Last year Jamaica lost out to the USA in the World Cup qualifying competition decider in Jacksonville after both countries defeated South Africa.”

The Barla squad is: James Barker (Milford), John Paul Brocklebank (Egremont), Troy Brophy (Warrington Wizards), Gavin Conroy (Widnes St Mary’s), Paul Corkhill (Egremont), James Michael Delaney (Dewsbury Moor), Jamie Fields (Hunslet Old Boys), Ross Gainsford (Kells), Jonny Goulding (Cockermouth), David Jones (West Bank), Danny Lynch (Pilkington), Adam Masson (Shaw Cross), Phillip Morrison (Thatto Heath), Daniel Morrow (Walney Central), Thomas Richardson (West Hull), Jack Ridsdill (West Hull), Lyndon Robertson (Leigh East), Tom Saunders (Hunslet Old Boys), Daniel Sayle (Dalton), Jack Sinclair (New Earswick), Jack Sutherland (Barrow Island), Clayton Sutton (Egremont), Christopher Warren (Millom).
