Rangers honoured

GLASSON Rangers have been honoured for their work off the field with a prestigious Clubmark award.

Clubmark is the rugby league kitemark for club standards and Maryport club Glasson was the first West Cumbrian amateur outfit to receive it.

The Cumberland League club - which runs open-age and youth teams plus an under-12s girls’ side - was told some time ago it had been awarded the Clubmark in recognition for their child-friendly environment and health and safety and sex and race policies. And it was handed over at a reception this week.

Allerdale rugby league development officer Alan Davidson, who attended the event, said: “We now have a great example of good practice not just within Allerdale but also nationally and it is a credit to the hard-working volunteers from within the club. A standard for all other clubs to aspire to.”
