Carlisle United's academy boss Alan Moore is set to leave the Blues.

The Irish coach is poised to end his stay at Brunton Park at the end of the season.

It is believed the 41-year-old is set to join another club.

Moore's departure, at the end of his two-and-a-half year contract, was revealed by the News & Star this morning.

It will leave a vacancy in one of the key coaching positions at the League Two club.

Carlisle confirmed they are seeking a new academy manager on their website this morning.

The club also posted on Twitter: "Goes without saying we have all enjoyed working with Alan a heck of a lot.

"We wish him well as he moves on to his next post."

The news comes in the week that Moore is due to meet manager Keith Curle over the future of United's second-year youth players.

It is a crucial time for the teenagers who are set to learn whether they will be offered professional deals.

Moore has overseen United's youth set-up since December 2013, having been appointed as academy manager by former manager Graham Kavanagh.

The pair were team-mates at Middlesbrough, while Moore had impressed Kavanagh and United with his work at Bury.

The coach has led Carlisle's youth regime into the era of the Elite Player Performance Plan, in which the club were awarded Category Three status in 2014.

Moore also briefly helped caretakers Paul Thirlwell and Tony Caig with first-team affairs after Kavanagh's sacking in September 2014, before Curle's appointment.

He had arrived at United to fill the vacancy left by Davie Irons, who was briefly head of youth before stepping up to assist Kavanagh when the latter succeeded Greg Abbott.

That followed Eric Kinder's departure to Blackburn after his seven-year stint as the Blues' youth boss.

Moore has been assisted at United by development coach Vince Overson since July 2014, the ex-Stoke player having previously worked with Moore at Bury.

The News & Star has invited United and Moore to comment further.

*The Blues have today posted a job advertisement for the academy manager position on their website.

With a closing date for applications of May 6, they say: "The academy manager is responsible for shaping the future direction of the academy, its staff and players.

"The academy manager must have a modern approach to development and be forward thinking in their long term strategy for the academy.

"This role requires someone with a clear passion for the long term development of talented football players, creating a pathway into the first team at Carlisle United FC."

A UEFA A Licence coaching badge is among the "essential" qualifications Carlisle require from candidates.
