Carlisle United have been handed a trip to Queens Park Rangers in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

The tie at Loftus Road is United's reward for their 3-1 victory over Chesterfield on Tuesday night.

It pits Keith Curle's Cumbrians against Chris Ramsey's Championship side, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

And it is a repeat of the second-round tie between the clubs in the 2008/9 season, when an Emmanuel Ledesma hat-trick condemned John Ward's Carlisle to a 4-0 defeat in west London.

The Rs squad currently includes sought-after striker Charlie Austin and ex-England keeper Rob Green.

Ramsey's men eased into the second round with a 3-0 win at Yeovil on Tuesday with Sebastien Polter, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Nedum Onuoha on target.

The game will see a return to Loftus Road for Carlisle's summer signing Angelo Balanta, who started his career at QPR.

And it is also a clash against a former club for manager Curle, who was a coach at Loftus Road under Neil Warnock.

Carlisle were one of the unseeded teams in the draw.

The tie will be played in the week starting August 24.

If it scheduled for Tuesday, August 25 the travel plans of supporters could be affected by a Tube strike which is planned by the RMT union for that night.
