Carlisle United have described reports linking manager Keith Curle with the vacancy at MK Dons as rumours.

The Blues boss has been described as a possible contender to replace Karl Robinson.

But it is understood there has so far been no approach for the United manager's services.

The Brunton Park club said it was inevitable that stories - such as tonight's in the Mirror - would emerge given the team's superb form in League Two.

Spokesman Andy Hall said: "When a team is doing well it stands to reason that rumours will spark up linking players and staff with potential moves.

"Until official approaches are made, rumours are what they remain."

Curle has certainly impressed this season by leading United to a club record 14-game unbeaten start on their way to second place in League Two.

But the fact he is under contract until 2018 could deter potential suitors.

Any prospect of a move to MK Dons would also prove deeply unpopular with fans of Wimbledon, given Curle's history as a player with the south London club.

Long-serving Robinson last week left stadium mk "by mutual consent" after six years in charge, following the Dons' poor start to the season.

They sit 19th in League One, after last season's relegation from the championship.
