Trialist Addison Garnett played his second game in a Carlisle United shirt as the young defender stepped up his bid to win a Blues deal.

The former QPR prospect completed the full game as United’s reserves drew 1-1 with Barrow at Holker Street.

The friendly against the Bluebirds’ second-string was 19-year-old Garnett’s latest chance to impress Keith Curle in a game, having previously played in a reserve outing against Fleetwood in November.

Manager Curle has challenged the defender, who has been training with the Cumbrians, to prove he is good enough to force his way into the United first team this season.

Three other trialists were involved for Carlisle as Angelo Balanta claimed United’s goal.

There were also outings for Hallam Hope and Tom Miller.

Loan striker Hope played an hour before being replaced by youngster Arron Bradbury, while defender Miller played the full game.

Curle also fielded Dan Hanford, Troy Archibald-Henville, Bastien Hery, Alex McQueen and Joe Thompson, with first-year pro Connor Hammell and youth keeper Morgan Bacon also involved in the second half.

Carlisle’s youth side were beaten, meanwhile, in a home game against Wigan that was switched to the Latics’ ground. Alan Moore’s under-18s lost 3-0.
