Gary Dicker insists winless Carlisle United will soon dish out a stuffing in League Two.

The midfielder believes the Blues have the potential to thrash an opponent - despite going four games without a league victory.

United were again thankful to Jabo Ibehre for rescuing a point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon.

It proved another frustrating afternoon for the Cumbrians, but Dicker reckons the tide will soon turn.

“The good thing is we are creating chances, and one day I think we are going to stuff someone,” he said.

“I hope it’s sooner rather than later. But I do believe the way we’re trying to play suits the players we have, and when we do click I’m sure someone’s going to be on the end of a beating.”

Manager Keith Curle also said it was a matter of him before his men beat someone by “four or five.”

But prolific Ibehre’s seventh goal in five games meant United have only drawn three and lost one of their opening four League Two fixtures.

The Blues at least stemmed the flow of goals into their own net on Saturday, with Troy Archibald-Henville impressing on his recall at the back.

Dicker believes the new style of play being encouraged by Curle this season will eventually bear fruit.

He added: “We’re getting used to different philosophies, and maybe some people haven’t been used to playing in teams that are playing out and trying to keep the ball all the time.

“But it’s a lot more enjoyable than having a sore neck running up and down the pitch. It suits me better as well, getting on the ball more than last year, when we were chasing around and trying to pick up scraps.

“We’re getting there. We stuck at it [on Saturday] and got a point we probably wouldn’t have got last year.

“That’s a positive, but we want to be winning games. We just need to be a bit more precise when we get in good positions, but it will come the more we play.

“Wimbledon came with a game-plan, to sit in, not really come out and attack, they got a goal which was poor from our point of view and gave them something to hold onto.

“But we kept going, and big Jabo is on fire.”

Dicker, meanwhile, says he is determined to hold onto his place in the side, having started Carlisle’s last two league games despite being transfer-listed.

He added: “I came back, got my head down in pre-season and worked hard in training – like everyone has, even the likes of Courtney [Meppen-Walter] and Danny Kearns, who haven’t been involved.

“You’re paid to play football and you want to play football. I’m no different to anyone, I want to be in the team every week and I’ll work my hardest to stay in.

“It doesn’t stay in my mind whether I’m on the list or not. You’re in the shop window every day you play football. It’s up to you to get on with playing.

“I just want to stay in the team and help Carlisle up the league.”
