Boss Tony Jackson complimented Workington Comets on a job well done after they saw off Berwick Bandits to get back to winning ways.

Comets handled a battling performance from the Bandits and particularly visiting No.1 Nick Morris in the first half of the meeting to pull away in the second half, with four riders scoring double figures for the hosts.

Jackson said: “The track was a bit difficult, almost like two different tracks during the meeting, but we came to do a job and we did it.

“It was a good win and team effort, and the two lads who weren’t in the points tonight both stayed behind working on it.

“Matt Williamson again was superb, he’s getting better every week.

“Ty Proctor has got a new engine which he picked up on Thursday and was a lot happier with.

“Thomas Jorgensen had another good meeting, although he’s still searching for more speed so he was beating himself up a bit.

“Mason Campton made a lot of changes to his bike after the first heat when he said the track wasn’t what he expected and he went unbeaten by an opposing rider after that.”

James Sarjeant endured a tricky debut as he failed to score in his first two rides but picked up as the meeting progressed, while Rob Shuttleworth struggled to keep pace with the pack but Jackson gave both a vote of confidence and said they deserved credit for staying behind to work on their issues.

Comets are next in action at Redcar on Thursday before hosting title-chasing Edinburgh at Derwent Park on Sunday.
