The Cleator race ace, who rejoined Comets in December on a mammoth 9.83 average, will make his first appearance at Derwent Park since returning in tomorrow’s Cumberland Open Championship (7pm start).
He hopes marginal gains can help him hold onto his position as the SGB Championship’s top rider this season.
He said: “It was only a matter of time before I came back, probably later than I wanted it to be.
“I’m riding the best I ever have. I’m at my peak and hopefully I can continue and keep on improving and pushing on this season.
“It’s all about progression for me, moving forward and becoming a better rider by fine-tuning the little things.
“When you get to where I am it’s the minor per cents, picking up one here or two there.”
Cook and his Comets team-mates will go up against Ricky Wells, Nicolai Klindt, Nathan Greaves, Tero Aarnio, Ben Barker, Ulrich Ostergaard, Nick Morris, Josh Auty and Charles Wright in this weekend’s individual competition.
