Adam Roynon is back on the scene of his greatest speedway season - and he wants his track record back.

The 27-year-old, who hails from Dalton, signed up last week for his third spell in Comets colours.

Roynon racked up points for Workington in 2012, clinching the Premier League Pairs alongside his friend Rene Bach in the process.

He added an impressive 2.53 points to his average, scooped a haul of awards at the annual presentation evening and set a daunting track record which stood for two years.

"It's been my home track since it reopened and is the place where I had my best ever season in the sport," he said.

"I love the people up there, the fans and everything as I'm kind of a home rider.

"The support from everyone is amazing and I love the track.

"The possibility of coming back and the deal on the table was too good to miss. It was a no-brainer."

And the fearless star is being ambitious in his goals for 2016, targeting the track record, the No1 spot and every piece of silverware available.

"My aim, and I know it sounds daft to some people but not to me, is to be No1 by the end of the season," he said.

"On my average I did it last time, it was just bonus points that kept me from it.

"I want my track record back.

"First and foremost the aim is to win everything.

"I want to be a better rider than I was when I was there last.

"It's a great club and hopefully I do it justice."

Widely regarded as one of the unluckiest riders in the sport, Roynon has displayed a remarkable ability to bounce back from every scrape and break. He credits this resilience to his headstrong attitude.

He said: "I've learnt different things in the three years I've had away from Workington.

"I've already started in the gym because I'm playing catch-up on a lot of people.

"It's all a confidence thing.

"I've learnt to be very headstrong with this sort of thing, it's just what comes with it.

"There's only so much a body will take going 60mph into a fence and stopping."

Meanwhile, Comets have announced that admission prices will be the same as or cheaper than 2015 next season.

Single meeting admissions will remain at 2015 prices and include a free race-card, while season tickets will be cheaper.

Comets owner Laura Morgan said: "Next season sees us involved in slightly smaller League Cup groups than they were this year, and with that in mind the cost of season tickets for 2016 is actually less than they were in 2015.

"Additionally, those fans that bought season tickets last season will get a refund equivalent to one admission, or an equivalent discount from the cost of their 2016 season ticket, to make up for the shortfall in home fixtures that occurred last season and unfortunately affected our season ticket holders."

Application forms for 2016 season tickets will be sent out to existing season ticket holders, and to anyone else requesting them from the club, from next week.

The ever-popular books of tickets will also be available to buy at the beginning of December.
