Workington Comets need to take every available point they can if they are to make the play-offs, according to owner Laura Morgan.

The end of the regular Premier League season is fast approaching and Comets are still chasing a place in the top six.

Workington face a massive double header this weekend when they face Berwick Bandits twice.

Comets travel to Berwick tonight 29th (7pm start) and then host the Bandits at the Zebra Claims Stadium tomorrow 30th (7.30pm start).

There will be added spice to the two meetings with the Border Trophy also up for grabs.

Morgan said: “It’s a big double header. We need every available point from now until the conclusion of the meeting with Edinburgh next month.

“We need to take every available point we can to stand a chance of reaching the play-offs.

“Historically we have had good luck at Berwick.

“I am not expecting Berwick to be a team that will come along, pull up trees and beat us at home. But again we can’t be complacent.

“All the boys know what is needed of them.

“The Border Trophy just makes things a little bit more exciting for supporters.”

Comets’ only absentee for the two meetings will be the injured Rusty Harrison, with rider replacement being used.

Berwick have a host of missing riders for both ties. Ben Barker will ride as their No1 tonight in place of the injured Thomas Jorgensen and Liam Carr will be at No8 instead of Kieran Douglas.

Ryan Fisher will guest for Mathias Thornblom on both nights, while rider replacement will be in operation for Claus Vissing.

Tomorrow, Rohan Tungate will guest in place of Jorgensen.

There will be Northern Junior League matches between Workington Meteors and Berwick Border Raiders after both meetings.
