Workington Comets' star riders are keeping the engines running during a break in the season.

The club have no scheduled fixtures this weekend but a number of their riders will be in action for other teams or in other competitions.

Comets skipper Rene Bach will be taking part in the Danish Championship Final in Slangerup, Denmark, tonight, where he will line up against grand prix stars like Nicki Pedersen and Niels Kristian Iversen.

Meanwhile, Kyle Howarth will captain Team GB in the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship semi-final in Gustrow, Germany tomorrow.

Ricky Wells and Matty Wethers are then due to guest for Redcar at Newcastle on Sunday in the Premier League.

Team manager Tony Jackson said he was pleased to see his riders keeping busy ahead of their return to action next weekend with a double-header home and away against Berwick.

"It's always good to see our riders keeping busy and riding in relatively prestigious meetings, it's all good experience."

Comets owner Laura Morgan added: "Gaps in fixtures can break up the momentum in the team and they always need track time so to see them keep busy I think is good for us and it's good for speedway."
