Workington Comets owner Laura Morgan has warned her stars that visitors Rye House will be no pushover as the West Cumbrians look to get their campaign back on track tomorrow night.

Comets have traditionally hit high scores against the Rockets on their home track but Morgan believes they are capable of springing a surprise tomorrow (7pm start).

She said: “We’ve got used to Rye House more often than not being a bit of a pushover but this year could be entirely different if they catch us on the back foot.

“Stuart Robson knows his way around with his eyes shut, having got some very decent scores over the years, and Edward Kennett will want to do extremely well.

“In the rest of the team they’ve got one or two unknowns which isn’t always a good thing as you don’t really know how they’re going to go.

“This is one of the key meetings we need to win because we need to be beating the teams that are above us.”

Comets hope to shake off any rustiness with a behind-closed-doors practice session tonight after five weeks without a home meeting and Morgan said the break has given tomorrow’s clash the feel of a season-opener.

“The boys are really excited. They all bounced off to their workshops this morning having bought new stuff,” she said.

“It’ll be good preparation for tomorrow.

“We need to focus on getting ourselves into that top six because this is where we start our campaign all over again really.”

Meanwhile, Comets have been drawn in Group A with Glasgow, Somerset and Scunthorpe for the Premier League Fours semi- finals next Saturday.

Group B contains Sheffield, Newcastle, Plymouth and Redcar, while Group C is Edinburgh, Ipswich, Rye House and Berwick.

Hosts Peterborough have automatically progressed to the following day’s final.
