Workington Comets earned their first away points of the season at Rye House as the Rockets snatched a draw at the death.

Ricky Wells recovered from last to second behind Edward Kennett in the opening heat, while Rasmus Jensen kept the pair honest for a draw.

A second draw from Matt Williamson and Adam Roynon before a 4-2 courtesy of Mason Campton and Kenneth Hansen saw Comets seize the initiative.

Stuart Robson beat Claus Vissing and Williamson in another tightly-contested draw in heat four.

Workington landed a heavy blow with a 5-1 from Wells and Jensen in heat five to stretch their lead to six points.

Kennett notched another win in heat six, while Lykke finished third to trim the visitors' lead.

Heat seven saw another Comets masterclass secure a 5-1 through Campton and Hansen.

The hosts hit back with a 5-1 of their own in heat eight, Morley bursting to the front before Lykke slipped past Jensen then into the lead.

A frantic start saw Heeps grab the lead and ultimately the win in heat nine, with Vissing splitting him and Lanham to maintain a two-point Workington lead.

That lead was wiped by Kennett in heat 10, while Lykke kept Hansen behind him in third.

A bizarre heat 11 saw momentum swing back in Comets' favour as Jensen wove through the pack to take the lead, before Wells capitalised on falls to take second for a 5-1.

Roynon and Hansen saw off Morley and Heeps to make it 39-33 to Workington with three heats to go.

Another spectacular ride from Kennett saw him win heat 13, but the Comets skipper reeled in Robson to limit Rye House to a 4-2.

A third win for Campton in a heat 14 draw ensured Comets would take points home.

Kennett went unbeaten on the night with a win in heat 15 and Robson kept the tenacious Wells at bay in third to make it 45-45.
