Workington Comets cannot afford to come home empty-handed as their play-offs push hots up this weekend, admits club owner Laura Morgan.

Comets have been in blistering form at Workington's Zebra Claims Stadium this season, where they welcome Redcar tomorrow night (7pm start), and remain the only side unbeaten at home.

In contrast, they have yet to pick up even a solitary league point on the road and Morgan admitted that record cannot continue at Rye House on Sunday (3pm start) if they are to breach the top six and secure a play-offs place.

She said: "This is an important weekend for Workington.

"We've come off the back of three great home wins but Redcar will be looking to take something away.

"There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to take all three points against them but we can't afford to be complacent.

"Sunday is probably the most important meeting we'll have this season.

"I don't think we can qualify without away points.

"We have got to take the points to give us a chance so we're going to have to work extremely hard.

"Rye House lost last weekend so they'll be looking to bounce back with a win and it's the first time in months that they've been back at full strength."

Kyle Howarth had been due to miss the weekend's fixtures after being handed a wild card berth for the second round of the World Under-21 Final in Poland.

But the Mancunian star withdrew from last Saturday's home win against Somerset after a nasty collision and confirmed to Comets management on Wednesday night that he would not be riding in Poland.

A late medical examination will determine whether Howarth is available to appear in Comets colours this weekend.

If Howarth is unavailable, Comets will utilise Richie Worrall as a guest in his place tomorrow and will operate rider replacement in his absence on Sunday.

Rusty Harrison is still recovering from a crash in April which put him on the sidelines for a lengthy spell. Comets will use rider replacement for him tomorrow, with Somerset's Todd Kurtz lined up to guest on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the kids-for-a-quid promotion will continue tomorrow until schools resume – children between five and 15 accompanied by an adult can get in for £1.
