Workington Comets showed they are starting to click by outgunning Berwick Bandits on Saturday, believes in-form reserve Matt Williamson.
The 24-year-old recorded his best-ever score in the second tier to help Comets to a comfortable 53-40 win over Berwick but he pointed to top performances from Ty Proctor, Thomas Jorgensen and Mason Campton as the biggest sign that Comets are stepping things up.
He said: “The difference was Ty and Thomas really coming to the party, and Mason rode fantastically as well.
“We had five riders out there really performing well and that got us the result.
“We want to win, there’s nothing better than that, and with what they had to do releasing Adam Roynon, I imagine it was a weight off the promotion’s back to get a win.”
Comets travel to Redcar Bears on Thursday night before hosting Edinburgh Monarchs on Sunday and Williamson hopes the confidence taken from Saturday’s performance can help them pick up points and push up the league table.
“Redcar is a track that I do like,” he said.
