Workington Comets can't afford any slip-ups if they are to make the Premier League play-offs, according to team manager Tony Jackson.

With tonight's opponents Peterborough occupying the final play-offs berth, Jackson believes the fixture is a six-pointer ahead of a make-or-break weekend.

"This is the business end of the season and it's crunch time," Jackson said.

"We've got to keep winning at home and get something from this last couple of away meetings.

"We need everybody to club together and give it our best shot."

Comets have 10 days to complete their remaining league fixtures for them to count towards their play-offs chase.

They travel to Peterborough tonight before hosting Glasgow tomorrow and visiting Newcastle on Monday, with Ricky Wells also representing the club in the Premier League Rider's Championship on Sunday.

Last weekend's postponed home meeting against Somerset has been rearranged for next Saturday but Jackson believes his side need to focus on the points they need this weekend.

"We've got three matches this weekend and all three are against teams in play-offs contention," he said.

"They're top teams and we want to be up there with them.

"It's the first time Peterborough's stronger line-up has come into action so that's a bit of an unknown.

"There's a chance the new riders won't be so familiar with the track.

"Kenneth Hansen's already proven he rides very well around there in guest appearances this season."

Tomorrow night's meeting will be followed by a Northern Junior League match between Workington Meteors and Redcar Cubs.
