Workington Comets manager Tony saw positives right through his team as they swatted aside struggling Scunthorpe in a 58-34 win on Saturday.

The wet track didn’t prove to be a leveller as a complete Comets performance saw them demolish the Scorpions in style.

Jackson praised both sets of riders for putting on a show despite regular rain showers throughout the meeting. He said: “Scunthorpe aren’t the strongest team in the league, their position in the table doesn’t lie but at the end of the day you still have to race them.

“Fair play to all the riders for battling through it and we got our biggest win of the season. It’s a rarity for any team to provide all of the race winners so that was something to see.”

West Cumbrian rider Ryan Blacklock guested for Rasmus Jensen and struggled despite giving 100 per cent until his final race, when he and fellow local Adam Roynon got out in front.

Blacklock secured the win with the help of some fine team riding from Roynon to draw a huge cheer from the crowd and Jackson said he was keen to see more of that teamwork.

He added: “You can run right through the team and there’s positives for them all.

“We need to be putting big scores in and moving up the league and that’s what we’ve done tonight.”

Sunday night’s meeting at Newcastle was called off due to a waterlogged track.
