Workington Comets ace Mason Campton hopes a move to No2 as part of a team reshuffle can help him to find form on the road.

Campton returned to Workington this season after being forced to sit out last year due to the visa crisis in British speedway.

The Australian rider overcame an injury sustained in his first race back in the country to record steady scores and

has now received his proper 5.62 average.

He will move to No2 from this weekend and the 22-year-old hopes the move can help him adjust away from home.

"The season's been okay so far, a little bit tricky away because I haven't been to some tracks in so long," he said.

"It's not been perfect but it hasn't been bad either, everything's changed a little bit since I was last here.

"I'm riding a lot better at the end of meetings once I get comfortable but I wish I could start that way.

"Especially when I've been riding at No4 it's been hard on the outside but I'm moving to No2 now and riding with Ricky.

"Hopefully that makes things better because in 2014 when I was a No2 I was riding well."

Campton isn't the only one to have found racing more difficult on the road, with Comets yet to register an away win in the league this year despite some encouraging performances.

He believes a lack of consistency is the problem but is confident the team will gel and become a force to be reckoned with.

He said: "We haven't had the best away meetings so far but we've just got to make the play-offs then do our best racing at the business end of the season.

"We've struggled a little bit with everyone having a stand-out meeting but not on the same night so once we click we're going to be a very strong team.

"It hasn't helped that everyone likes all sorts of different tracks too.

"Ricky is good everywhere but Adam likes the big tracks, so does Kenneth, and I like the smaller ones."

After sitting out last season, Campton is just happy to be back riding his back in the UK but admitted he would like to increase his average by 2017.

"Obviously I want to make my average up to a 7.00 by next year so I don't have any of that visa drama again," he said.

"I'll be pretty happy if I can make more progress."
