Workington Comets manager Tony Jackson believes this weekend could give a true reflection of his side's ability as they face three meetings in as many days.

Comets travel to reigning champions Edinburgh for their first Premier League fixture tonight (7.30pm start) then host the Monarchs in the reverse tie tomorrow (7pm start). They then travel to Newcastle for their penultimate League Cup meeting on Sunday (6.30pm start).

The West Cumbrians remain unbeaten at home but haven't raced an away meeting since March 27.

Jackson expects this weekend's pair of tough trips to test Comets' quality.

"Three meetings is never ideal but it's about as much as we can cope with," he said.

"It's four weeks since we had an away match so the lads are keen to get some meetings under their belts.

"You don't get a true reflection of how good you are until you've raced a few away matches."

Workington and Edinburgh will both be at full strength this weekend but Tero Aarnio is still a doubt for Newcastle, with the Diamonds set to use rider replacement if he is unavailable.

Jackson added: "Edinburgh is a track we've struggled on in the past because it's so different to Workington but a point or more would be an excellent way to start so we'll go with an open mind.

"We don't take anything for granted though, it's one meeting at a time."
