Workington Comets star Claus Vissing says he's hungrier than ever before as he looks to bounce back from a nightmare year.

The Dane started 2015 in fine form for Berwick before a horror crash sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Now in blue and white and linking up with his countryman and good friend Kenneth Hansen, Vissing is itching to get back in the saddle.

"I just can't wait, I don't think I've been this hungry before," he said.

"March can't come quick enough, I've missed speedway so much.

"I'm definitely hoping to improve my average; that was my aim for this season but I got a terrible injury so I wasn't able to do it. I'm pretty certain I can put a point on that though."

The 29-year-old admires Comets' management team Laura Morgan, Tony Jackson and Steve Whitehead and credited their passion as a major factor in his arrival.

He said: "It seems like they really have their hearts in the club and I've known that for years.

"They breathe for this club and that's what makes me want to race for a club like this one."

"It's a track I've done well on in the past. Most of my meetings there have been brilliant and I really like it.

"It's my type of track, a fast track with a bit of banking.

"I'm okay on everything but I do fancy the fast ones where you can really get some speed up."

As an experienced Premier League rider, Vissing is familiar with most of next season's Comets side and admitted he was impressed with how it was shaping up.

"The only one I don't know that well is Matt [Williamson] but I know everybody else really well and I'm really good friends with Kenneth so it's going to be a cracking year I'm sure," he said.

"We maybe don't have the biggest stars but we do have a really stable team where everybody's going to score points every time.

"A lot will be down to the reserves and if we can keep Adam Roynon there we'll be very hard to beat."
