Craig Cook wants to prove he is still the man to beat around Armadale tomorrow night when Workington Comets travel to his old haunt to face Edinburgh (7pm start).

Cook won back-to-back Premier League titles with the Monarchs and is still the record holder at their track but there will be no room for sentiment when he returns there as a Comet for the first time.

"It is a while since I've been there," he said.

"I've only been once in the last two years but it's a track I shouldn't forget.

"It's exciting times for me to go back because it's a place I enjoy riding.

"It'll be nice to put on a show and hopefully prove that I'm still the man to beat there."

Although Comets are eighth in the league and 19 points off fourth-placed Redcar, Cook is still not ruling out an unlikely push for a Championship play-offs place if they can put together a run of wins.

"Who's to say we can't make the play-offs still if we can carry on the form that we showed in the last meeting at Workington," he said.

"Let's finish the season strongly and build for next year.

"We've just got to keep winning because I don't feel like we're done yet."

The Monarchs are back at full strength for the first time since June as captain and No1 Sam Masters returns for tomorrow night’s fixture.

Meanwhile, Chris Harris will guest at No1 for Newcastle at Derwent Park on Saturday but will be absent for Peterborough when Comets travel there on Sunday, with the Panthers set to use rider replacement.

Ryan MacDonald is set to guest for Comets at No7 tomorrow night, with Tom Woolley stepping in on Saturday and Jake Knight on Sunday.

Tonight's scheduled meeting at Glasgow was called off early due to a poor weather forecast.
