Workington Comets ace Thomas Jorgensen started his season with a bang in the annual Ben Fund Bonanza meeting at Glasgow.
The Danish rider, who signed for Comets in November after a successful spell with border rivals Berwick, scored nine points from his five qualifying heats to only narrowly miss out on a place in the final.
Jorgensen recovered from a slow start to earn impressive victories over Richie Worrall and eventual winner Richard Lawson and looked in good shape ahead of Comets' traditional press and practice day this Saturday.
Ex-Comet Lawson, of Maryport, finished strongly to beat Chris Harris, Richie Worrall and last season's Workington captain Ricky Wells in the final.
