Workington Comets riders Ty Proctor and Mason Campton have been keeping busy during the winter break by riding in the Australian Championship.

Proctor and Campton competed in the first round at Gillman this week, with the former joint eighth in the standings on six points while Campton is 15th with three points.

Proctor aced the start in his first race and went on to win, while Campton settled for third.

The Comets newcomer followed that up with a disappointing last place before three respectable third place finishes.

Meanwhile, Campton slipped from second to last in his second race and struggled in his third ride, before finishing third in his final two races.

The round was won by Rye House rider Davey Watt, with the next in the series to be held at Mildura tomorrow.
