Workington Comets rider Mason Campton has promised to repay club owner Laura Morgan for her faith after becoming the club's third signing for 2017.

Campton comes in on a 4.67 average after a stuttering season which ended on a high with a string of impressive performances thanks to a switch to reserve and an engine borrowed from last year's Comets No1 Ricky Wells.

And the Australian hopes investing in that same engine can help him carry his form into next season.

He said: “I am stoked to be coming back.

"I know a lot of people will be thinking I've had my chance but I really think I can do it next season.

“I borrowed an engine off Ricky for the last couple of meetings and it confirmed what I was suspecting, that the engines I had been using just weren't up to it.

"So I've purchased that one off Ricky and am getting others to the same spec, which I know will mean that I start 2017 the way I finished 2016.

“I just want to thank Laura for showing faith and I promise I will repay her, and hopefully the fans will support me on my return as I will be trying my hardest to score big points for them and help Workington win some silverware.”
