Ty Proctor has signed for Workington Comets.
Proctor, 28, was a victim of the visa crisis in British speedway earlier this year when his season at Sheffield was cut short.
He qualifying to return to the UK by winning his third Victorian Speedway Solo Championship in Australia earlier this month.
He joins Comets on a 6.68 average.
Comets owner Laura Morgan said: "We've been in talks with Ty for a while and I'm over the moon to have him on board.
"We're more than happy with the team we've got.
"We, and all of the riders, do believe we've got a team which can really go places.
"Ty really believes in himself that he can get back to where he was when he was approaching a 9.00 average.
"Really we've got four riders challenging for the No1 place which can only be a good thing and Ty's a racer as well.
"He's also ridden in teams with pretty much all of the riders we've got here.
"I think Mason's had a hand in selling the club to him so he's really keen."
He is Comets' seventh and final signing after they completed deals for Claus Vissing and returning favourites Kenneth Hansen, Ricky Wells and Matt Williamson, Adam Roynon and Mason Campton.
