Ben Stokes is being tipped to earn millions of pounds in this year’s Indian Premier League.

The 25-year-old Cumbrian has put himself forward for the IPL auction, which will take place later this month.

And Stokes, who could be set for the biggest payday in his career so far should he be picked, feels the experience could help take his career to the next level.

“I’ve put myself forward for the auction, it’s a good opportunity to go away and experience different competitions,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing if I get the chance to see what it’s all about.”

Stokes will be sure to attract plenty of interest given his explosive all-round game.

And India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has told the BBC he feels Stokes could earn “millions” from playing in the competition.

When asked how much Stokes was worth, Singh, who went for a record £1.6m in 2015, said: “A couple of million.

“He’s a quality hitter, fast bowler and fielder.

“He’ll definitely get the big bucks. He brings a lot to the table.”

England wicketkeepers Sam Billings and Jos Buttler are already signed to teams.

But the likes of Stokes, Chris Woakes, Jason Roy, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills and Alex Hales could attract interest.

“In terms of the English summer, it’s quite hard to get away and see what it’s like to play the foreign T20 leagues,” Stokes said.

“This year’s IPL is a chance for, not just myself, but other England guys to experience what it’s like and see a different side to T20 cricket rather than just playing in England.

“It’s something we want to happen in England, get a franchise sort of thing, every other country is doing it.”

This season’s IPL, the 10th season of the competition, will start on April 5.
